Las Tunas will have two women occupying its main government positions, after Yelenis Tornet Menéndez and Juana Yamilka Viñals Suárez were elected as governor and vice-governor, respectively, on Sunday, as the National Electoral Council (CEN) announced through the National Television Newscast.

The Las Tunas electoral authorities are finalizing the organizational details before the extraordinary election of the governor and vice-governor of this eastern Cuban province, scheduled for December 8.

6th Provincial Conference of the ACRC in Las Tunas

The need for growth with the incorporation of young people, and the importance of preserving revolutionary values, were topics of debate at the 6th Provincial Conference of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC) in the eastern province of Las Tunas.

Some 1,337 tons of fish must be harvested in the current year.

An organizational program to develop and increase aquaculture production is underway in the eight municipalities of Las Tunas, which has incorporated some 400 hectares in more than half a hundred water bodies.

More than five million pesos were allocated during the year 2024 for the protection and preservation of mangroves in the province of Las Tunas, an activity that falls mainly on the Agroforestry Enterprise (EAF in Spanish), which results in multiple benefits.
