Amanda Beatriz Ortega Rodríguez didn't hide her happiness when she heard the jury's verdict: she was the winner of the National Tonada Contest for this 2025 Cucalambeana Fiesta.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- "I was very nervous; it's my first competition as a tonadista; there was a lot of rehearsal behind being here," the young woman from the province of Ciego de Ávila confessed with a smile.
After offering a few words of praise to the rest of the competitors, whose high level, she said, forced her to give her best throughout the three competitive rounds, she insisted that with this award, everything begins for her. "I'll continue defending my traditions," she affirmed.
She fell in love with the country folksong in her teens; above all, the Camagüey tonada, which is his favorite. "I like this, it fills my soul. I think it's one of the most important things, beyond what other young people my age do. I enjoy it, the public does too, so let's all enjoy it!"
