The "Follow at Your Own Pace" campaign was launched at the Vicente García Memorial. This national initiative aims to strengthen access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as a preventive strategy against HIV.
Las Tunas, Cuba – The initiative is the result of collaborative work between the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP in Spanish), the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Unit (Prosalud), the Transcuba, Cub+, and MSM-Cuba networks, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
PrEP involves the use of medications that reduce the likelihood of acquiring the virus during sexual intercourse by more than 90 percent, making it a highly effective tool.

The campaign targets the groups most vulnerable to HIV, aiming to disseminate information about its benefits and raise social awareness to break down prejudices, stigmas, and discrimination that still limit access to these services in the country.
The introduction of PrEP began in Cuba in 2019. Since April 2024, the Expansion of Differentiated HIV Services project has broadened the coverage of preventive actions, including PrEP, as part of the national HIV response.
The campaign complements these efforts, reaffirming the national health system's commitment to the inclusion and protection of the most vulnerable.
