The willingness of the province's residents to defend our sovereignty against enemy aggression was evident during the first National Defense Day of 2026, whose main activities took place in the provincial capital.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– Several theoretical and practical exercises contributed to the day's objective: to evaluate the performance of the territorial defense system, including Defense Zones, special formations, and regular units, during the transition to the state of war to confront an enemy invasion.
Accompanied by Brigadier General Florencio Navas Guevara, Chief of Staff of the Eastern Army, the President of the Provincial Defense Council, Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, held discussions with the presidents of the Defense Zones and political coordinators of the People's Councils.
During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of increasing citizen participation in preparedness activities and reviving the concept of a people's war, so that everyone knows what to do in any given situation.
From now on, Defense Days will be held every Saturday to train the population in grenade throwing, marksmanship, rifle assembly and disassembly, the use of gas masks, and other practices that will help protect people.
On this occasion, the day took place in all eight municipalities and concluded in each location with an act of revolutionary reaffirmation, in which those present expressed their commitment to safeguarding the Cuban Revolution and their support for the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
