The Tax Return and Payment Campaign, led by the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT), runs from January 5th to March 31st.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– This process, mandatory for a wide range of taxpayers, is of great importance due to its direct impact on the state budget and the services it funds.
Marisleidis Fernández Diéguez, director of ONAT in the capital city, confirmed the positive outcome. “The tax return campaign was 100% complete, meaning we exceeded the target set for 2025.”
WHO MUST FILE NOW?
Following the declaration phase, the current campaign "includes the filing of the sworn statement of the settlement and payment of the corresponding income tax for the year, and this also includes both state and non-state legal entities," the director explained.
"Self-employed workers, social communicators, designers, artists, journalists, personnel receiving bonuses, and registered taxpayers in the agricultural sector are required to file their sworn statement and make the corresponding payment."
Fernández Diéguez warned of significant adjustments in the rates, especially in the transportation sector. "In this campaign, the main change was an increase in land transportation fees." To illustrate, she gave a concrete example: "A motor, which last year paid 22.00 pesos, this year pays 110.00."
In this regard, she made a specific appeal to taxpayers who have paid, or those who have made the land transportation payment, to update themselves on the changes regarding the new fees. “In the case of vessels, if payment is made before February 28, they will receive a five percent bonus on their payment this year.”
The official noted that these processes are part of a broader effort to modernize regulations. “Furthermore, this year, three legal regulations are being amended to strengthen and update the Cuban tax system, in accordance with government projections approved last year and the transformations of the current economic landscape.”
Complying with the established timeframe for the affidavit declaration and tax payment is not only a legal obligation but an act of civic responsibility and a direct contribution to social development.
