Agricultores, made-up of Granma and Las Tunas players was the champion of the 1st Elite League

Barely a few months after having organized its first edition, the Cuban baseball authorities have just given another of their usual nonsensical sharp changes of direction and have announced that the six best teams of the 62nd National Series will play the 2nd Elite League.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to what was informed at a press conference, the six teams will be reinforced between 10 and 12 athletes, and they will play 40 matches in the qualifying stage starting on November 4.

Apparently, with scheduled subseries of four games, the regular phase will grant four tickets to the semifinals between January 6 and 14; while the final will take place from the 17 to the 25. Both playoffs will be seven games to win four.

The new change in structure then, discards that kind of embryo of a future Professional League that had been the creation of six teams for the first version of the Elite League.

Agricultores, the champion, made up of players from Las Tunas and Granma, will not have the opportunity to defend its crown.
