The José Martí Pioneer Organization (OPJM) in Las Tunas province has designed various activities and programs for the current vacation period, according to its provincial president Maité Escobar Rivero.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Escobar Rivero explained that the community is the primary setting. “There, the Pioneer Explorer Movement is activated in parks and plazas. Visits will also be made to monuments, historical sites, and museums in each location. The goal is to connect children and teenagers with local heritage and foster knowledge of history from an early age,” she commented.
Another initiative is the activation of the “Click Patrols.” According to the provincial president, energy saving is an urgent necessity today. The patrols are responsible for promoting the rational use of electricity in homes, as well as reviewing and raising awareness about efficient consumption.
“Furthermore, the Pioneer Action Forces (FAPI) were convened for the second half of June. During this period, the Pioneers work in gardens and plots, as well as in the collection of raw materials. These activities aim to contribute to food production and the circular economy through the participation of children and youth.”
The vacation plan also includes the activation of two key movements: one for pioneers who are sports enthusiasts and another for pioneers who are art enthusiasts. Competitions, games, and physical activities will be organized, taking advantage of local talents.
Finally, Escobar Rivero noted that the OPJM facilities will be available to pioneers during the vacation. Located near communities, they will offer recreational and sports activities. The goal is to guarantee healthy leisure options and ways for children and teenagers in Las Tunas to spend their free time.
