Tension between Mexico and US because of Trump tariff policy.

The Mexican government has strongly criticized President Donald Trump's announcement of imposing 30% tariffs on Mexican goods, calling the measure "unfair" in an official statement released Friday.

Mexico City.- According to the joint declaration from Mexico's Secretariats of Economy and Foreign Relations, Mexican negotiators were informed about the tariffs during bilateral talks in the United States. The new duties are scheduled to take effect on August 1.

"At the negotiation table, we made clear this constitutes an unfair agreement that we cannot support," read the statement from both government agencies. The Mexican delegation reportedly objected to the proposed tariffs during the discussions.

The announcement comes amid ongoing trade tensions between the two North American partners, with Mexico maintaining its position that such unilateral trade barriers violate the spirit of international commerce agreements. (Cuba Si)
