3rd Pablo de la Torriente Brau Reportage Contest.

With their work "El Cornito, poesía y sollozos" (El Cornito, poetry and sobs), journalists Gianny López Brito and Yelenis Fernández García, from the TunasVisión TV channel, won the Television Award in the third edition of the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Reportage Contest, the result of which was announced as part of the celebrations for the 67th anniversary of the Adelante newspaper in Camagüey.

Journalist Yelenis Fernández GarcíaYelenis Fernández García.Las Tunas, Cuba.- “This award is the result of learning from others, working as a team, being empathetic, and appreciating every opinion... And we are especially grateful to editor Yovier Serrano Pino, who brought creativity to the audiovisual production,” Yelenis points out.

Gianny, for her part, refers to the need to better defend El Cornito, the annual venue for the Cucalambeana Fiesta.“It is a symbol of the city, one of the most bucolic and attractive places here. Unfortunately, it deteriorates every year and, although it does not lose its magic and poetry among the bamboo, it needs a deep look, for desires to converge and for it to recover its splendor. It should not just be ‘made up’ for the upcoming Fiesta Suprema del Campesinado Cubano,” he says.

This contest, organized by the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC in Spanish), together with its delegations at the Cuban News Agency and Adelante, became a tribute to Adolfo Silva, a prominent journalist (who recently passed away), who encouraged its creation and development.

Other winners in the competition were: Miozotis Fabelo Pinares (Radio Cadena Agramonte), Yanetsy León (Adelante), Lourdes Pichs and Jorge Fernández (¡ahora! newspaper), and Jorge Enrique Jerez Belisario (Granma newspaper); the latter with an honorable mention. Congratulations!
