2026 Freedom Caravan.

History is not a static memory in the “Balcony of Eastern Cuba;” it is a living force that today travels the Central Highway. On the 67th anniversary of the passage of the historic Freedom Caravan, the people of Las Tunas, led by their youth, took to the streets to retrace the steps of the bearded revolutionaries and reaffirm that the Revolution is a process of continuity and unwavering principles.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– This year, the traditional procession was, in a special way, an act of solidarity with Venezuela and its Bolivarian Revolution, following the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. special forces on Saturday.

With the presence of Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, First Secretary of the Cuban communist Party in Las Tunas, and Governor Yelenys Tornet Menéndez, the people added to their tribute to the heroes who 67 years ago achieved the definitive liberation of the nation, a massive demonstration of support for the process of change underway in the South American country since 1999, now seriously threatened after the attacks perpetrated the previous day by the United States Army.

“Venezuela is not alone,” was the cry that resonated among those present. Workers, artists, academics, and journalists, on behalf of their fellow citizens, denounced the flagrant violation of international law represented by the armed incursion ordered by the Trump Administration, which, along with bombings of various locations in Venezuela, claimed the lives of at least 40 people, both civilians and military personnel, and concluded with the kidnapping and subsequent transfer to U.S. soil of Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

In their speeches, the speakers affirmed the unwavering support of the Cuban people for the Bolivarian Revolution and the civic-military alliance that has sustained it for 25 years.

Also, on this historic morning, several young people received their membership cards, officially becoming new members of the Young Communists League (UJC).

The Lone Star Flag, undefeated and sovereign, continued its journey westward. Around 1:00 p.m., in the municipality of Guáimaro, it was handed over to the province of Camagüey.
