According to the Xinhua News Agency, at a regular press conference on December 25, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Europe continues to bet on a prolonged conflict in Ukraine and an escalation of tensions, showing no concern for peace in Kiev.
"The European countries supporting Ukraine, primarily from the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom, have not the slightest intention of seeking peace. Their only concern is the money they will transfer to Ukraine and later recover," emphasized Zakharova.
"They (Europe) continue to bet on the escalation of tensions, and that is why they want the conflict to be prolonged," added the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Zakharova, Russia has always maintained an open stance toward cooperation with the West and affirmed that Russia has only one condition: full respect for international law.
She added that Russia’s willingness to officially state that it has no plans for aggression against NATO and EU countries on a reciprocal basis is a natural and logical continuation of its consistent and principled position.
"Russia is ready to formalize these commitments in a legally binding document. The specific format will be determined during negotiations, but it must be a comprehensive international legal document," emphasized Zakharova. (CubaSí)
