UJC in Las Tunas meets young religious leaders

The transcendence of working together for the good of our society and the defense of the highest values of the human being focused on the ideas shared in a recent meeting between the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Youth Union (UJC) and a group of young religious leaders of the territory, from different denominations and fraternal associations.

Jorge Luis Álvarez Ríos, official of the UJC Ideology DepartmentLas Tunas, Cuba.- The purpose of identifying common elements that can become concrete actions for joint work mobilized the meeting, said Jorge Luis Álvarez Ríos, an official of the ideological department of the organization.

"We developed this meeting in a context in which the organization seeks transformations; we do it with the call for a dialogue where the desire to develop our society for the good and act according to it prevails.

"We intend to meet again to update each other on the progress of our common activities and to evaluate future projections," he said.

In a natural and fraternal atmosphere, both parties underlined the importance of these exchanges to establish alliances in the face of negative phenomena such as social indiscipline, the loss of values, and the proliferation of vices and harmful habits, to cite a few examples. Likewise, they agreed on how much can be done, from cooperation, for the good of the union of the Cuban family, of the communities, and, especially, of the people in vulnerable situations.

Sadan Jiskly Fernández, of the Pentocostal ChurchOne of the issues that mobilized the criteria of some of the representatives of the believing community was the request for public spaces for the realization of activities proposed by the different denominations, which, from different positions, also agreed on the community of criteria around the strengthening of values and for the unity of the Homeland.

Sadan Jiskly Fernández of the Pentecostal Church emphasized that it is very good that the women and men of faith are listened to, with the desire to advance for the benefit of a better society. "The Lord put us here to take this country forward. The Christian Church needs these spaces; we are here to serve", said the young doctor who, in turn, expressed his satisfaction with the political will to join forces.

Yaidelín Martínez, of the Spirita Federation of Las Tunas.Yaidelín Martínez, a visual artist from the Spirita Federation of Las Tunas, spoke of the same humanity, common sense, and working for the good of all. "It is a good time to work with the youth from all points of view and a spirit of unity based on the faith that mobilizes us and the desire to help. As we all seek solidarity and moral transformation for good, I think it is a good time to unite and work for it, from mutual feeling and respect."

On the occasion, Carlos Alvarez Mayo, an official of the Office of Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Party stressed that, in Cuba, religious freedom is expressed in the constitutional text, and the daily work of the institutions.

"Those of us who live here inhabit a common home, for which we want the best. We seek the same thing, even if by different paths, but with common points; unity within diversity. The challenges of today's world impel us to seek alliances and put them into practice," he said.

He also reaffirmed the will to cultivate that inter-religious and governmental dialogue, on a basis of respect, without any distinction; from everything that unites us and brings us closer, with love for Cuba as a guide and essence of unity.
