Las Tunas .- The celebration here of acts to formalize the entry of youth into the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) are the first signs of change that the largest mass organization in the country is already experiencing, in keeping with the First National Conference of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
"These activities were not being exploited in all places, that is why we are picking them up," Jose Blanco Martínez provincial coordinator of the CDR told Periodico26.cu, after the ceremony at which a dozen young people living in this city in eastern Cuba joined the organization. "It's an important opportunity in our political work with the new generations," he said.
Like all social groups and unions in the country, the CDR, carefully observed the First Conference of the PCC, because in the conclave they discussed the relationship of the political vanguard of the nation with the mass organizations. "Our leaders at all levels also made their contribution to these discussions," said Blanco Martinez.
"The first work after the Party Conference is to put them into operation in each CDR, but also impacting on the problems that may be affecting every family, to fulfill their educational role," he said.
"Changes have to be made, for the future to be better. But the organization will maintain its essence, which is to defend the Revolution through the tasks we all know, but we have to adapt to the times we live in. This is a time of intense ideological struggle and different from previous decades," said the CDR leader.
