Health authorities intensify epidemiological surveillance in the area of the medical office 9 in the town of San Manuel, after a resident in the province of Ciego de Ávila, who had contact with that community of the municipality of Puerto Padre, was positive for SARS-CoV-2. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In a first decision, the Puerto Padre Municipal Defense Council restricted the mobility of 167 people from 61 homes, as reported by local Radio; a measure that was later extended to the rest of the town, according to the details of Roberto Cabrera Sao, vice president of the local management structure in a meeting with the members of the Defense Zone. Until there, the local authorities bring food and expedite - through messengers - the main procedures, added Radio Libertad.

The direct contacts of the Ciego de Ávila’s woman were transferred to the isolation center; the active inquiry was expanded throughout the population, while health promotion talks were given.

In recent weeks, Las Tunas strengthened epidemiological surveillance to prevent the occurrence of COVID-19 outbreaks, as has already happened in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
