The Popular Savings Bank (BPA, in Spanish) in this eastern Cuban province has reduced its operations as of March 30 to avoid crowds, although those essential such as the payment of pensions and retirements, as well as those related to deposits and withdrawals from people's bank accounts.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The objective is to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As long as the distancing measures directed by the authorities last, no new requests for credits for construction materials will be received at BPA branches; nor will transactions associated with the transfer of homeownership be processed. Nor will savings balance certifications be issued.

The banking institution insisted that these provisions comply with the indications of the Provincial Defense Council to confront the exceptional situation in the country. The institution recalled customers who come to its branches that they have to use the protective masks.

At the same time, it was reiterated the exhortation to use non-contact payment channels such as Electronic Banking, Telephone Banking, as well as applications for mobile phones such as Transfermovil, which enables them to manage their deposited funds and pay for services from their homes.
