Increased COVID-19 cases in pediatric ages

Cuba reports in recent days the highest number of positive cases for COVID-19 in pediatric ages, according to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The province accumulates more than 20 positive cases under 20 years of age. For this reason, extreme vigilance against possible symptoms is required, and basic hygiene and protection measures are maintained in the different social spaces.

The Las Tunas Educational System keeps its classrooms active. It is important to comply with the established health protocols and the specified epidemiological regulations for the safeguarding of students.

Since March 2020 -when the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 appeared in Cuba- to date, official reports from health authorities have registered 1,674 patients in the country in the age range of children and adolescents affected by SARS-CoV-2 (data at the close of this information); some with an evolution towards serious stages.

Alarmed, the health authorities insist on the responsibility of families at home; an attitude supported, furthermore, in educational centers. Taking care of children is an imperative of life today.
