Global Day of Feminist Solidarity with Cuba on Tuesday.

The World March of Women (WMM) has announced a 24-hour global day of feminist solidarity in support of Cuban women and their revolutionary resistance, to be held next Tuesday, April 7th, the birth anniversary of Vilma Espín, clandestine fighter and long-time president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

Cubadebate reported that the call to action, which aims to encompass all time zones worldwide, urges feminist movements and allied organizations to hold decentralized and simultaneous activities at noon in each territory, as a continuous gesture of support in the face of the escalating aggression against the island.

For decades, Cuba has faced an economic blockade imposed by the United States and persistent aggression that significantly impacts the daily lives of the population, especially women, who play a crucial role in sustaining communities and maintaining resistance in a context of growing adversity.

Beyond the symbolic mobilization, the MMM in Brazil joined the Brazilian Solidarity Campaign with Cuba, which seeks to collect medicines and solar panels to mitigate the effects of the blockade, intensified by the measures of the Donald Trump administration in the energy sector.

The campaign, coordinated by the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), seeks resources for the purchase and air transport of essential medicines, as well as to pressure the Brazilian government to send oil and other supplies.

Recently, a caravan made up of Brazilian parliamentarians, union leaders, and students participated in an initiative to send more than 20 tons of supplies, including food, medicine, hygiene products, and equipment for essential services.

Pressure on Cuba regarding energy intensified on January 29, when Donald Trump imposed new sanctions, declaring a “national emergency” and accusing the country of posing a supposed threat to U.S. security, to impose tariffs on countries that sell oil to the island and curb its energy supply.
