There is a lack of citizen responsibility to achieve social isolation

The health authorities of Las Tunas province insist on the need to comply with the hygienic measures to win the battle against COVID 19, a disease that has been affecting the Cuban population since last March. However, the appearance of new cases shows a certain relaxation in compliance with oriented measures.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- During a tour of this city, the Cuban News Agency noted that, although most citizens have a created awareness of the need to be disciplined, others continue to be irresponsible and have a low perception of risk, despite the fact that on August ten positive cases were diagnosed in the province.

In most of the facilities visited there is the first barrier of containment: containers for handwashing with chlorinated water and detergent or soap, but not all of them are used since in several workplaces they keep the product only as a formality.

Very busy cafeterias such as Café Real and El Rápido, both located in the heart of the city, have the containers for hand disinfection, but no one is in charge of ensuring that the provision is complied with, so it is up to the people to do so or not.

Lisbel Ayala Figueredo, a young self-employed worker, said that this scenario is common in many establishments, where the issue of sanitation is left to no one, because the conditions are created but no employee of these entities is located at the entrance to enforce the protocol.

A similar story was told by Ana Eva Cardet, a specialist in Science, Technology and Environment, who said that in the La Reguladora market, consumers are required to wash their hands before entering, but no one is in charge of pouring the liquids to make the process effective.

Meanwhile, in places with an abundant influx of personnel such as the Interprovincial Bus Terminal, the stores of the Caribe, Cimex and Caracol chains, the Héroes de Bolivia clinic and the seat of the municipal government, there is a demand for proper compliance with this regulation.

During the tour of the city, it was also confirmed that most of the entities visited do not have pedestrian walkways for the disinfection of shoes, and it is important to remember that the cleaning of all surfaces is a measure of strict compliance.

The desire to return to normality is a general request, so it is also a request to use the mask, hand washing, cleaning of shoes in every place where you arrive and physical distancing because the fight against COVID-19 is a problem for everyone.
