The Cinemazul Film Appreciation Festival will take place from March 24 to 26

The Cinemazul Film Appreciation Festival will be held from March 24 to 26, at the municipal level, online, dedicated to the 62nd anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and Latin American Cinema.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to Yunicelia Zamora Mercantete, the Communication Specialist at the Provincial Cinema Center, due to the circumstances of the pandemic, this time there will only be three film debates per territory. In each case, the Ola Award will be selected, which will represent each municipality at the provincial meeting, scheduled for October.

“Even though the institutions are closed and the connectivity is not the best, we did not want to ignore the event, because among its objectives is to develop in the audience the critical capacity around celluloid. Thus, taking into account that in each municipality the film clubs have experience in cultivating this knowledge, we trust in their wisdom so as not to lose tradition.

“In each place, strategies have been sought for its operation, and photos and materials related to this task will be shared on the Facebook page of the Provincial Cinema Center. The municipality of Las Tunas will also dedicate the event to the Cuban director Juan Padrón, with emphasis on the films “Elpidio Valdés against dollar and cannon,” and Vampires in Havana (I and II),” Yunicelia commented.

The "Cinemazul" has unique characteristics within its spectrum in the country. Although on this occasion the COVID-19 has limited its spaces for audiovisual exhibition and exchange with specialists, the fact of devising alternatives with the help of the internet is another way of defending the Seventh Art.
