The political leadership of the province praised the progress made in the educational sector

During the most difficult material conditions and financial resources, and in the COVID-19 stage, the educational sector in Las Tunas has obtained outstanding indicators in the development of the teaching-educational process, with an excellent record of service that extends over time, and these results were recognized by the Provincial Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), in a meeting to analyze the issue.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The political leadership of the province praised the progress made in the sector due to the commendable work of directors, professors, teachers, and workers in general, who every day strive to consolidate the quality of the teaching-educational and teaching-learning processes, always by the commitment to correctly educate the new generations.

However, there is still much to be done to strengthen discipline and educational work. In this case, the work is not limited to schools, and on the contrary, it is necessary to join forces with the family to achieve a greater influence on the integral behavior of children, adolescents, and young people.

Concerning higher education entrance, this province has always obtained good results, but in the 2022-2023 school calendar the indicators were lower than in the previous academic year, and this must be reversed, in addition to working to avoid the number of students dropping out of university education, mainly.

One issue that needs a great deal of attention and dedication is the exodus affecting the sector. In the last school year, for example, 1,51 teachers were dismissed from their schools, and currently, the coverage for work in the classrooms is at 95 percent, with 785 vacancies, and although the figure represents about 4 percent of the more than 17,000 teachers, it is still a concern, even though alternatives are being sought with the possible reinstatement of a good number of retirees, who can still contribute a great deal to the teaching profession.

The member of the Central Committee and first party secretary in Las Tunas, Manuel René Pérez Gallego, said that the work of the “núcleos” in each school and other structures must be strengthened, above all in the political responsibility that corresponds to them, and he suggested making a diagnosis to get to the essence of what is lacking to transform the sector in search of excellence, even though the results are good.

He insisted on strengthening the teaching-educational process and the relationship between schools and the family, defining what is lacking in each center with its workers' collectives in general and teachers in particular, and when the problems in these environments are identified, working from the community groups together with each professional in the sector, always under the leadership of the Party at all levels, based on a strengthening of the grassroots structures of the political organization.

In the new teaching stage that begins next Monday, September 4th, it is necessary to constantly pay attention to the investment plan that is being developed in the educational sector and to the schools, and even when there are good results, to increase the content for the social networks with the reality of the province, the country, and the world.
