Root and fresh vegestables are among the products with lower prices

New prices for products and services entered into force in the municipality of Las Tunas as of Monday, after being approved by the Administration Council of this eastern territory.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- With this measure, the prices of root and fresh vegetables, and grains are lowered, intending to curb the galloping inflation that families from Las Tunas repudiate so much.

Cristina Sarría, a regular client of La Algarroba agricultural market, commented to the Cuban News Agency that she could buy rice at 130.00 pesos per pound, instead of 160.00 as was set before this provision, while the chickpea, for 230.00, was bought at 200.00.
“It is a good measure, it has not been that much, but at least we know that actions are taking place to stop inflation; from now on the inspectors work,” Sarría said.

The resolution of the Administration Council of the provincial capital also includes processed foods that are sold in cafeterias such as pizzas, snacks, and soft drinks; as well as activities like parking, children's recreation, punch bowls, barbershop, and hairdressing.

Working commissions were created to contact different producers and listen to their criteria before the governmental authorities approved and made public their decision; a task in which members of the Finance and Prices Department had permanent participation with the objective of determining the cost sheets of each product.
