Since the information phase was decreed in all the eastern Cuban provinces and part of the center of the country, the educational sector in Las Tunas activated 92 schools in all municipalities as evacuation centers, which already receive a significant number of people, with due compliance with the health protocol to avoid the spread of the COVID-19.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In these premises, water, food and all the necessary resources are guaranteed, as well as the personnel that will attend to the evacuees. This was reported by Nílser Piñeda Cruz, provincial director of Education, who also explained that the 642 educational institutions in the territory immediately adopted the measures provided for this exceptional situation and safeguarded their resources and facilities.

Piñeda Cruz specified that “the material base of study and life and the technology park to support teaching are duly protected. The solar panels were dismantled; the roofs were protected, as well as the crops and animals found in farms attached to different centers.”

In the coastal areas of the province, all media were moved to safe places and roofs that are susceptible to strong winds were removed. In the same way, constant communication is maintained with the municipal management posts to be acquainted with everything that happens in each school in Las Tunas.
