
On Tuesday afternoon, the eve of August 13, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro's 99th birthday, renovated buildings that benefit the provision of services in the Public Health and Education sectors and improve the well-being of their workers were delivered in Las Tunas City.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The workers of the 3 de Octubre Dental Clinic and a Home for children without Parental Care rejuvenated their facilities to the pleasure of their employees and beneficiaries, as part of a broader program paying tribute to the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution.
In addition, they celebrated the completion of a home belonging to Odalmis Góngora Mena, head of the nursing service at Ward C2 at the Ernesto Che Guevara General Teaching Hospital, the most important healthcare institution in this eastern territory.
THE WORKS

On the "3 de Octubre,” rehabilitation work halted damage to the infrastructure as part of a recovery process for which a total of three million pesos were allocated. It were completed the waterproofing of 715 square meters of roof and the restoration of the surgical and teaching areas, including two classrooms and the library.
The restored facilities exhibit a welcoming atmosphere with renovated furniture and climate control equipment. The classrooms and library are more comfortable for a better development of the teaching-educational process, among other improvements.
Similar benefits were received by the Home for Children without Parental Care, which houses six children from zero to six years old, located in District 96 of People's Council 2, in the La Victoria neighborhood.
Yaleidis Alarcón Cutiño, the director, explained that the home underwent a reconstruction project, costing 3.8 million pesos, which included demolition, casting, and waterproofing of the roof, changes to plumbing and sanitary networks, repairs to the perimeter fence, installation of carpentry and railings, tiling of the bathroom and kitchen, and repair of the furniture, among other interventions.

"Everything is more beautiful. Now, motivation is greater, as are the possibilities of providing better service to patients," said Yadamí Tamayo Castellanos, head of the General Dentistry Department at the 3 de Octubre Clinic, while praising the impact of the rehabilitation efforts.
This is how Yadamí summarized the feelings of her 115 colleagues, who, in various positions and responsibilities, provide promotional, preventive, curative, and rehabilitation services for a population of 19,215 people.
Sonia Peña Martín, a social worker at the People's Council where the Home for Children without Parental care is located, affirmed that the actions taken have significantly improved the well-being of the residents and the working conditions of the staff who care for them.
Nursing graduate Odalmis Góngora Mena, head of Ward C-2 of the Ernesto Guevara General Teaching Hospital, is equally pleased with the completion of her now comfortable home.
Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC); Yelenis Tornet Menéndez, Governor; and PCC and officials in the municipality attended the ceremonies and presented recognitions to the most outstanding workers in the transformative effort.
Lorenzo Rodríguez emphasized the importance of carefully adhering to the facilities' maintenance policy to prevent deterioration from affecting his work and increasing the cost of their restoration.
These renovated buildings are symbols of Fidel's concern for the people and his humanism.
