Evoluciona app

The possibility that the Cuban Campaign for Nonviolence against Women and Girls, Evoluciona, has a mobile application is in the hands of the Computer Applications Development Group of the province of Las Tunas, in alliance with the Youth Club of Computing and Electronics.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- As a didactic tool, the Evoluciona app proposes greater visibility of the contents and messages of the campaign that is already in the third of its four years of implementation, an initiative aimed at transforming social imaginary naturalizing from sexist violence, especially in Cuban youth.

Dayalé Torres Diéguez, a specialist of the Vice Presidency of Knowledge Management of the Union of Informatics of Cuba (UIC), told the Cuban News Agency that the application is part of the project Gender Equality in ICTs on Wheels that the UIC will begin to implement with the collaboration of the Youth Computing and Electronics Clubs in the northern municipalities of the province.

Designed to eliminate the digital gap in women and girls from rural communities and to appropriate them with tools that allow them to identify and prevent sexist violence both in the online and offline spaces, "Gender equality in ICTs on Wheels" is among the three Cuban projects nominated for the International Summit of the Information Society 2021.

Evoluciona Campaign for NonviolenceIn this sense, the creative and social media management team of the Evoluciona Campaign is immersed in the design of the computer product that plans to gather important inputs that contribute to dismantling social stereotypes related to gender roles and sexist violence, specifically some manifestations as naturalized as control and harassment.

Transferring the own communication codes that Evoluciona has positioned among its audiences to a mobile application is the main challenge of the Las Tunas Development Group, in charge of designing and shaping sections such as "Generación de Amor," "Despatriarcando," "De Película,” and others.

Besides, the insertion of the Evoluciómetro (Evolution Meter) is foreseen, a kind of test to measure the level of delay, progress, or evolution that each person or relationship may have concerning the expressions of violence.

With initiatives such as this, the province of Las Tunas stands out for the promotion of important projects that contribute to the computerization of society and the fulfillment of the sustainable development objectives of the 2030 Agenda, an endeavor in which the UIC actively participates.

The Evoluciona Campaign is promoted by and for young people and coordinated by the Oscar Arnulfo Romero center together with the National Center for Sex Education, the Cuban Multidisciplinary Society for the Study of Sexuality, and the Center for Youth Studies; as well as in synergy with the Juntas (Together) campaign of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).
