Five pounds of pork per family nucleus are being sold

The residents of the municipality of Las Tunas have welcomed the news about the sale of five pounds of pork per family nucleus, through the supply card.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Manuel Alberto Lescay Rodríguez, the coordinator of Goals and Programs of the Council of Administration in the municipality, assured 26 that this strategy arose as a result of the scarce availability of the product, and to compete with the prices of the black market.

"Our goal is always to protect the people and guarantee food to each family - Lescay pointed out. This initiative has become effective thanks to the union of the Swine and Meat companies, the Provincial Government Council, the Administration Council in the municipality, and Finance and Prices.

“We established the sale of five pounds of pork per family nucleus at 40.00 pesos. In the case of the head, legs and viscera, it will be sold additionally and at 16.00 pesos per pound.

“So far, the sale has been made in butcheries of the Popular Council 19 and 4. The objective is to reach the 68 thousand nuclei of the municipality, in a staggered manner and to the extent that we have the supply supplied by the Swine Company.”

Lescay pointed out that the sale began in the periphery because, in the most central districts, other modules are still being distributed with productions from the processing centers of the territory.

He reiterated that will be used the same distribution system that for the rest of the meat products, i.e., the sale will be made in the 82 butcheries belonging to the regular stores' network of the territory on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The strategy of marketing pork so far is only limited to the urban area of the provincial capital. From now on, the Council of the Administration of the other territories may adopt it, according to their possibilities.

“The truth is that I thought it was people's gossip. I was shocked when they told me that they were already selling the meat. Hey, what help for the people! Especially at this time, when there is such a shortage of resources," Zoila, a neighbor of the Sosa district, says while she exhibits her bag with the demanded product for this media.
