Plásticos Bahamonde was one of the approved projects from Las Tunas

Three applicants from Las Tunas received approval from the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) on Thursday to become micro, small or medium-sized private companies (MSMEs).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- With these, there are already four that have the green light from this regulatory institution to continue the diversification of the economy here.

Those approved now are Plásticos Bahamonde, producers of plastic wood, shaped profiles, and others; Multiservicios Génesis, specialized in transport maintenance, repair, cleaning, and remodeling; and what will now be Muebles Villazul, a furniture manufacturer.

Previously, TUHamburguesa was the first approved microenterprise, which will be dedicated to the activity of restaurants and mobile food service. “the country has given this opportunity, it is a real possibility. The authorities have realized that the private sector has a very strong potential and they are creating the foundations for these companies to be born and grow,” its head Adrián Segura Tristá said.

The Ministry of Economy and Planning approved a total of 67 MSMEs and the first two non-agricultural cooperatives (CNA in Spanish), which added to the first 35 announced before as part of the improvement of economic actors. Now, it was specified, there are a total of 102 MSMEs and two CNAs throughout the country.

The Ministry of Economy assured that the processing of requests that have been received through the Platform of Economic Actors continues. "So far none have been denied". Another encouraging note is job creation, as these forms of management will generate 616 new jobs, the communiqué from MEP concluded.
