La Boca beach, in the northern coast of Las Tunas

After a prolonged calm, imposed by the pandemic, the beaches in the north of Puerto Padre returned to everyday life this summer, with the daily presence of thousands of bathers.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Punta Corella, La Llanita, and La Herradura resorts welcome people of all ages; but La Boca is preferred due to the quality of its waters and sands, and the number of businesses.

Families still arrive at the beach, in private or rented vehicles, or using the transport approved by the CARDINAL provincial company to provide services to those who want to take a dip.

Most of the bathers come from the city of Las Tunas, 100 kilometers distant, but others come from the community of El Socucho, from where two boats depart for permanent trips to La Boca, lasting only three minutes.

With the crossing, the vehicles save 30 kilometers of road. Very feasible for those who travel, because the barges, with a capacity for more than 100 people each, travel for 12 hours without interruption (from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm). Those who board one of them, pay for their ticket and have a guaranteed return.

When the boats are on their way to make their last trip of the day, already in the twilight, since they arrive at the iron frame that makes up the dock, they ring a bell to alert those who have forgotten the schedule. It's like an urgent call... It's time to get out of the water!

On the beach, you can find everything. The workers enjoy cabins belonging to their respective unions, at 181.00 pesos per day, and a restaurant with offers at reasonable prices.

People also rent private houses, at 1,500, 2,000, and up to 3,000 pesos per day. Along the entire shoreline of the beach, umbrellas with the traditional guano roof remain standing to the delight of bathers, and tents, floats, and beach furniture (deck chairs) are rented.

There are not a few vacationers who are shocked by the prices of the self-employed, knowing that an apple is worth 150.00 pesos, besides other natural or processed products such as pizzas, fried foods, and avocados…, which are cheaper in the city markets.

All this is part of the talk of the families in these marine sites, but it does not overshadow the smile and pleasure of adults and children who enjoy a source as natural and authentic as the beaches of Las Tunas.
