Driven by the conviction that every generation bears the responsibility of forging its own path, secondary education students in Las Tunas officially joined the Federation of Middle School Students (FEEM).
Las Tunas, Cuba.— The provincial ceremony was held at the Rita Longa Pedagogical School and brought together students, teachers, and guests. It was presided over by Jorge Luis Álvarez Río, responsible for the education sector and the FEEM at the Provincial Bureau of the Young Communist League (UJC); Roberto Gabriel Cerdeira Cañete, president of the organization in the "Balcón de Oriente" (Balcony of Eastern Cuba); and Nílser Piñeda Cruz, the Director-General of Education.
During the gathering, the organization's history, founded on December 6, 1970, and conceived as a space for representation, participation, and development for middle school students, was highlighted. Signing the FEEM registry was a key moment of the event, formalizing the commitment undertaken by the new members.
In his address to the students, Roberto Gabriel Cerdeira Cañete emphasized that belonging to the FEEM entails far more than simply holding a title; it means assuming responsibilities, upholding the student's pivotal role, and contributing to social development from within each educational institution.
He urged the young people to view this stage as a process of growth, preparation, and lifelong learning, noting that initiative, discipline, and participation are essential for effectively representing their classmates.
The event also featured a cultural performance and reaffirmed the importance of an organization that, for over five decades, has supported the development of generations of Cubans while promoting the values of a just and equitable society.
With these new members' incorporation, the FEEM in Las Tunas gains young voices ready to take on tasks and challenges from within the classroom. In these complex times, marked by the country's current difficulties, academic preparation and self-improvement remain the cornerstones of their development.
