Footballer Ricardo Polo Román.

Las Tunas footballer Ricardo Polo Román is leaping forward in his career. His new destination is the Nicaraguan First Division, where he will play for Club Sport Sébaco, on loan, for a season.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– This opportunity comes after a year of experience with the Masica FC Municipal Academy in the Honduran Third Division. However, the highlight of his recent career was his time with the Cuban U-20 national team. Polo was part of the squad that achieved the historic qualification for the U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Considered the leading figure in Las Tunas football today, his performance in 2025 was recognized in his hometown. He was selected as the province's Best Contracted Footballer of the year, an honor that reflects local pride in his achievements.

Polo Román isn't arriving alone in Central America. He joins a growing contingent of Cuban players on the Sébaco squad. Just a few days ago, the club presented Marcos Rodríguez, a Holguín native and U-20 World Cup player, as a new addition to its roster. Samuelvis López, from Camagüey, also plays for the team.

The green-and-white club enthusiastically announced the signing on their social media. “Club Sport Sébaco is pleased to announce the addition of Cuban footballer Ricardo Polo Román, a U-20 World Cup player with the Cuban national team,” they posted.

The message highlighted his qualities: “He is a player with international training, a competitive spirit, and experience representing his country at the highest level of youth football in the world.” They emphasized his “discipline, intensity, and tactical commitment.”

“His arrival strengthens our sporting project and reaffirms the club's vision of continuing to grow with quality talent and international potential,” the post concluded.

With this move, Sébaco reinforces its defensive line and invests in young players with international potential.
The presence of two Cuban World Cup players on its roster reflects the club's confidence in the island's talent and generates new expectations among its fans.

The team, which reached the semifinals of the previous Apertura Tournament, will begin the Clausura 2026 this Friday. Their first opponent will be Indígenas de Matagalpa FC.
