Provincial Acto for the Latin American Medicine Day, held in Majibacoa.

For its consistently positive results in medical care, adherence to Primary Health Care indicators, and a coherent management system capable of fulfilling the demands of our times, the municipality of Majibacoa was chosen to host the Provincial Ceremony for December 3rd, Latin American Medicine Day.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– During the event, this territory was recognized as the most comprehensive municipality, and the excellent condition of its facilities was praised, despite resource scarcity. In general, the effective collaboration that has enabled maintenance services through their medical clinics was also commended.

Karianna Pérez Rodríguez, secretary general of the Provincial Union of Health Workers in Las Tunas, acknowledged the humanism and dedication with which healthcare professionals approach each workday and face significant challenges with their characteristic sensitivity.

In the presence of the highest authorities of the province, the outstanding performance of the sector in the municipalities of “Colombia” and Las Tunas was also recognized, demonstrating their commitment to the specific challenges facing the country and its unwavering priority, in any context, of the lives of all human beings.

The Provincial Electromedicine Center was awarded the status of a Moral Collective, in recognition of the excellent results that validate the performance of these professionals in Las Tunas, whose work is aimed at improving the quality of services despite current economic limitations and their impact on the healthcare sector.

The efforts of provincial hospitals to maintain the vitality of their services and provide patients with individualized care were highlighted. Similarly, the Central Union of Cuban Workers (CTC), together with the National Union of Health Workers and its Ministry, awarded the Manuel (Piti) Fajardo Distinction to several workers with more than 20 years of service in the sector.

The General Directorate of Health received a heartfelt tribute for its solidarity with the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Polyclinic in Vado del Yeso, Granma province. Our staff provided timely assistance to the clinic when it was cut off from the provincial capital due to Hurricane Melissa.

The day was marked by sensibility and commitment, essential values for physicians that, in the current complex epidemiological context, serve as a crucial shield even in the face of scarce resources and medical supplies.
