109th Session of the International Conference of the ILOThe Cuban government ratified before the International Labor Organization (ILO) its commitment to protecting workers despite the impact of Covid-19 and the U.S. blockade.

Havana, Cuba.- Speaking virtually at the 109th Session of the International Conference of the ILO, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó, denounced the blockade imposed by Washington and its intensification amid the health emergency.

She described the siege as criminal and a massive, flagrant, and systematic violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban people.

Feitó recalled that in Cuba social protection, more than a guarantee of employment and salary is a constitutional right and a conquest that has made it possible to defend employment during the pandemic stage.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Relations Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla commended on Tuesday Cuba's reelection as a member of the Governing Body of the ILO.

On Twitter, Rodríguez assured that with this, the association made up of governments, employers, and workers once again recognize the results of the island in terms of labor rights protection.

On Monday, the Caribbean nation was elected to the executive body of the ILO, with 214 votes. (RHC)
