El Mambí agricultural market

The new marketing policy to stimulate food production and make the governing mechanisms of the activity more flexible transcends the contexts of production, storage, and distribution of agricultural products.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The implementation of the new strategy also leads to changes in the image of the agricultural market and the supply to the population, and the usufructuary Argel Fundora Acosta walks along these paths, who assumes the administration of the largest agricultural market in Las Tunas province: El Mambí, in the new type modality.

El Mambí agricultural marketDespite economic limitations, shortage of inputs, during a pandemic that exacerbates difficulties, guarantee an efficient service, products with greater added value, uniformed employees, electronic payments, and a sample of what Agriculture should be, is the motive that guides this entrepreneur, endorsed by the powers conferred by Decree-Law 35 and a package of legal regulations.

"The population demands higher levels of products from the countryside and that, to a great extent, has to be managed by marketers, so as not to have empty pallets with so much production in rural areas," the usufructuary clarified.

Taking advantage of the facility is essential to provide an excellent service, recognized Argel. “Spaces to sell juices, jams, butchers, agricultural products; besides a section dedicated to corn and another to traditional dishes, which will be sold in an inn, are the main departments. However, the entire infrastructure of the market's online platform will also lie within its perimeter, both for payment and for electronic commerce,” he explained.

With an unlimited perspective, the entrepreneur explained to 26: "El Mambí agricultural market will also be a wholesale shopping center for those who own private restaurants or another form of management." As he did for nine months in the well-known Los Almendros market, where he also provided a specialized service, his goal will always be "to guarantee the feeding of the people."

El Mambí agricultural market"There is still a lot to do," he stressed. The restless mind of this usufructuary does not stop, and between donations to isolation centers, differentiated sales to different sectors of the population, and the consolidation of electronic commerce, he does not abandon the deliveries to prioritized groups or supply commitments to the Los Vegetales point of sale, also managed by him.

Obtaining the lease of the new agricultural market implied that the usufructuary had to deliver the “Los Almendros” which he previously leased in the new type modality. The residents of that community have expressed numerous concerns regarding this decision, and wonder who will assume the marketing of products there, because during the time that Argel did it, the pallets were supplied and a variety of services could be found.

Currently, Fundora Acosta is inserted in the creation of its own MSME (micro, small or medium-sized company), an opportunity that will allow him to act with legal personality to improve his management as a fundamental actor for the production and commercialization of agricultural products.
