The inquiry of acute respiratory infections (ARI) is maintained

With 39 positive cases for the new coronavirus since the first patient was registered in March this year, Las Tunas maintains permanent epidemiological surveillance, energetic confrontation and attention to the still active. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, director of Public Health in the territory, specified that, since that date, more than 8,600 real-time PCR tests have been carried out in the province.

She explained that these examinations in recent days focused on the control of the family focus in the Health area of the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima polyclinic, where more than 459 studies were carried out, of which the result of 300 is already available.

On the other hand, Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez pointed out that samples for PCR are taken on health and support personnel who leave work in the red zone, as well as on the population of interest as determined by the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology.

She stressed that the Provincial Defense Council indicated to retake some measures of the first and second stages of confrontation with the COVID-19, among these, the entry into isolation centers of travelers arriving from provinces with a high incidence of the disease, especially from those center and west of the country.

These people, he explained, after discharge must maintain movement restriction for 14 days.

In Las Tunas, the inquiry of serious acute respiratory infections (ARI) is maintained in hospital centers and specialized investigation of vulnerable people in the community, as well as of any citizen with symptoms in each neighborhood or community, she added.

Likewise, visits to hospitals, maternity and elderly homes, in addition to psycho-pedagogical medical centers, are restricted in order to provide greater security for vulnerable groups.

The provincial director of Health in Las Tunas, Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, advised the population to stay informed and intensify self-care actions, such as the use of the facemask, frequent handwashing and due physical distance.
