Changes in COVID-19 surveillance sytem due to favorable behavior

Given the favorable epidemiological situation with the COVID-19, health authorities in this province announced changes in the disease surveillance system, which here reports 17 confirmed, 16 of them recovered and one deceased.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, head of the Provincial Health Directorate, told the local radio that there are no restrictions for those who own a vehicle and decide to travel to the eastern provinces of the country. However, she said, strict monitoring will continue at home.

Travelers coming from places with a high incidence of COVID-19 should be more disciplined, she said. "If respiratory symptoms appear, they will be transferred to our isolation centers for suspects, and their contacts will be isolated at the sites designated for that purpose."

Gutiérrez also spoke of the resumption of care activities at the Guillermo Domínguez hospital, after attending to some 200 possible patients with COVID-19. Thus emergency care, maternity, medicine wards ... are back to normal.

She explained that in the territory they will keep the PCR studies on the suspects, those admitted with severe respiratory infections and in the silent zone of the population (randomized studies to detect asymptomatic patients).

Eight isolated people remain in the province in the category of suspects, 45 as contacts and 15 travelers from Spain, Ecuador, and Belgium.

Yesterday, 36 negative PCR results were received and there are already 3,775 made here. There were no quick tests and the figure of 3,581 remains.

A total of 146,378 people were investigated in Primary Care and the 36 detected with respiratory symptoms received assistance. Likewise, 40 people from Las Tunas reported their health status, through the Virtual Inquirer, totaling 11,237.
