Low incidence rate of COVID19 in Las Tunas

No new cases of COVID -19 were announced today in Las Tunas. This eastern province remains today with one of the lowest incidence rates in the country; however, the health authorities call for extreme hygiene and social distancing measures.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. Aldo Cortés González, deputy director of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, expresses great concern at the indifference and indiscipline of few citizens who leave home in the current circumstances.

He emphasizes that several of those diagnosed with the disease here have no symptoms, which complicates the situation. The detection of these people has been possible thanks to epidemiological control around positive cases.

This reality invites to reflection since those who leave their homes can get sick and then infect their families.
It is known that older adults and people who suffer chronic non-transmittable diseases (hypertension, diabetes ...) are at the highest risk of dying. There are horrifying figures that are reported daily by various nations.

Cortés comments that there are many contacts of the identified patients, and clearly it is inferred the breach of the social isolation that the authorities of the country insist so much. Given this, he assures, it will be necessary to act with more severity because they are negligent that endanger the lives of many others.

He also considers that the best way to honor the health personnel, who challenge the new coronavirus in Cuba and in other parts of the world, is, precisely, to stay at home. Only then will the new coronavirus go down in history.
