The supply in the retail network of food stores of a module of nine products is one of the measures put into practice by the Commerce sector in Las Tunas, to ensure a better distribution of supplies, as part of the Plan for the Prevention and Control of the COVID-19.

Rolando Rodríguez Rojas, director of the Business Group of Commerce in the province, assured to 26Digital that 192 cafeterias are working as processing centers and that together with the ten regular portioning centers of the Balcony of Eastern Cuba, are making sausages, croquettes, hamburgers and other meat varieties.

"The priority is to create various offers, said the manager. In the processing centers today they make multiple products depending on the raw materials that are available. We have expanded the confectionery and the strategy is to bring these varieties closer to the regular stores and sell them through the ration card, so as to avoid hoarding and reselling.

“Initially, we have conceived modules to take to each nucleus of the provincial capital. A liter of syrup, 10 soft drinks, five pancakes, and a package of crackers; as well as soy yogurt, cottage cheese, croquettes, hash and red mortadella will be sold.

“To date, we have been able to benefit around 10,000 families, not all of them have received the complete module, but the missing products will be distributed to the possible extent. This sale will be made quarterly. In April we aim to cover 33 percent of the population and prepare for the coming months.

"In the case of yogurt, the same milk outlets will be used for sale, the meat products will reach the network of butcheries and the dry ones will be in the stores."
The conditions are also created in the municipalities to bring the productions of the processing centers closer to the families, in correspondence with the raw materials that these units have. Local authorities have reported that they have the necessary transport for food to reach rural communities.
