Isolation center in Las Tunas

A total of 104 patients suspected of having COVID-19 in this province remain isolated, six of them from the most recent case diagnosed as positive for this dangerous disease.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to the health authorities, those confirmed -that are being treated in the province of Holguín- are progressing favorably and so far without warning signs.

Trained professionals constantly monitor 27 suspected patients in Los Cocos, 23 in Los Caciques, 46 in Aguada de Vázquez, two in "Colombia", five in the Ernesto Guevara general teaching hospital and one child in the Mártires de Las Tunas pediatric hospital.

At the Lenin campus of the University of Las Tunas, there are now two people who are being controlled by specialists, as they had some contact with the suspects.

The number of people under surveillance in the Isolation centers assigned to compatriots who have arrived from other countries is 70; 56 of them continue in Cerro de Caisimú and 14 are in the University of Medical Sciences, former Polytechnic of Health.

#LasTunas vs. COVID-19

To date, 137 samples of nasopharyngeal exudates have been sent to the laboratories of the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine and Santiago de Cuba. Of these, two were confirmed positive for COVID-19, 80 were negative, and the rest, positive for other viruses that cause respiratory infections with a predominance of influenza.

At a press conference, the national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported that starting today there will be 100,000 fast kit tests that allow diagnosis in some 30 minutes. The analysis will be made to those admitted to the isolation centers and to those who arrive in the country, who go to these institutions.

The call of the health authorities continues to be to stay at home and take extreme protection measures, especially those who have the urgent need to go out on different tasks.
