The day becomes very intense; it is when more hospitalizations are reported by the Puerto Padre’s health care unit, destined to care for positive and suspected patients of high risk, and acute respiratory infections throughout the province.
Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- The 65 percent of those hospitalized at the Guillermo Domínguez López - including two infants: a newborn and another in their first year of life - are COVID-19 cases, which is why the battle in each ward reaches a larger dimension.
Dr. Máikel Fernández López, deputy director of medical assistance at the center, said that they have reorganized the staff and opened other wards, but there is still capacity to face the increase in patients in several municipalities of Las Tunas.
They have available beds, medicines according to the action protocols, artificial ventilation equipment, and human resources for the task of defeating the COVID-19.
Convalescents increase, also those recovered despite the rise in referrals from other health institutions. The group regrets the death in the last hours of a patient from Las Tunas due to the SARS-CoV-2.
