Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived in this capital on Thursday to pay a state visit to China, where he will conclude the international tour that previously took him to Algeria, Russia, and Türkiye.

Beijing.- The president will stay here until November 26 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, and will have a short but intense work agenda.

He traveled with Deputy Prime Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and Alejandro Gil, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, and Ministers Rodrigo Malmierca (Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment) and Vicente de la O (Energy and Mines), as well as Deputy Foreign Ministers Anayansi Rodríguez and Emilio Lozana. Cuban Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira will join the delegation.

Although some details of his agenda are still unknown, Díaz-Canel and Xi Jinping are expected to officially discuss the state of bilateral relations and devise new actions to further strengthen them in the future.

However, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this week that the Cuban president's visit will boost the development of relations between both countries as good friends, good comrades, and good brothers.

It is also considered that it will foster traditional friendship and fraternal cooperation between both nations, which he described as a solidarity, collaboration, and mutual assistance model. China is the fourth and last stopover of Díaz-Canel's current tour. He visited Beijing in 2013 and 2015 as vice president of Cuba and paid his first visit as president in November 2018. (PL)
