Cuban 2022 municipal elections

The National Electoral Council of Cuba confirmed that the municipal elections on the island began satisfactorily.

Havana, Cuba.- Alina Balseiro, president of this democratic instance, said in a press conference that the 23,480 polling stations opened their doors with the required conditions by the law in force for this process.

She explained that some incidents were reported that were solved and do not prevent the electoral day to be developed according to all the requirements of transparency and respect to the citizens’ guarantee.

Balseiro urged all voters to exercise this constitutional right by electing the delegates of the circumscription, who integrate the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power, the highest body of the nation at the territorial level. The polling stations will be open until six o’clock in the afternoon and then those who wish may attend the counting of ballots, which is a public and transparent act. (PL)
