Deputy Esteban Lazo was ratified as president of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba and the rest of the parliament's leadership, who also heads the Council of State.
Havana, Cuba.- During the constitutive session of the 10th Legislature, the parliamentarians, through a free, equal, direct, and secret vote, ratified their confidence in Lazo, Vice President Ana María Mari, and Secretary Homero Acosta.
The legislators also approved the new Council of State, where 10 of its 21 members were renewed, giving way to relevant figures of the Cuban social scenario, such as scientists, athletes, health personnel, or representatives of the different levels of government.
In this regard, the presence of a president of a municipal assembly of the People’s Power and a president of a people’s council stand out, thus reinforcing the importance given to municipal autonomy and local development in the current projections of the country.
According to the National Electoral Council president, Alina Balseiro, all 462 deputies present at the session exercised their right to vote. (Granma)
