Cuban Parliament holds constituent session

The National People's Power Assembly (Cuban Parliament) is holding the constituent session of its 10th Legislature on Wednesday, following the provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Law.

Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban legislative body, when constituted for a new Legislature, elects its President, Vice President, Secretary, and other State Council members.

It also elects the President and Vice President of the Republic and appoints the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, Secretary, and other members of the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Cuban President.

The session by the Council of State (permanent body of the Assembly), opened at 09:00 hours, local time. (Granma)
