The members of the Belgian House of Representatives met Cuba’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU)

The members of the Belgian House of Representatives André Flahaut and Raoul Hedebouw praised Cuba's resistance and rejected the blockade imposed by the United States.

Brussels.- The parliamentarians established their position during a meeting with Cuba’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU), Yaira Jiménez, who expressed gratitude for their solidarity.

Flahaut, a member of the Socialist Party, described the US blockade of Cuba as unacceptable, unfair, and inhumane. He also highlighted the solidarity practiced by Cuba and the social dynamics that encourage it, particularly regarding public health and women’s rights.

For his part, Hedebouw, president of the Belgian Labor Party, questioned the US blockade policy and its impact on the economy of a small country that “tries to develop based on a different system: socialism.”

“It is time for the EU to make its voice heard in the fight against the blockade, the priorities of the United States are not ours,” he stressed.

The leader highlighted the meeting with the ambassador and the Cuban diplomats, as well as the opportunity to learn details of Cuba’s reality. (PL)
