Cuba has the potential to become a destination for congress tourism

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero on Friday underscored the importance of tourism to improve the quality of life of Cubans.

Havana, Cuba.- The Granma newspaper reported that Cuba has the potential to become a destination for congress tourism, with ten international airports, hotels with the appropriate infrastructure, and highly-trained personnel, in addition to outstanding historical, patrimonial, and cultural values.

The head of Government’s statement came during a visit to the coastal resort of Varadero, 140 kilometers east of Havana, during the week-long Congress of the Federation of Organizing Entities of Congresses of Latin America (COCAL).

On Thursday, Marrero insisted on the importance of betting on tourism to further improve the people’s living conditions, because it is a sector that generates the income the country needs to comply with social projects.

Cuban Tourism Minister Juan Carlos García also attended the meeting.

Marrero praised that the event’s organization included the IMEX COCAL Future Leaders Forum pre-congress session.

He described such a section as a unique opportunity for young people from universities from Cuba and other Latin American nations to exchange experiences and learn about Congress, Convention, and Incentives Tourism (MICE). (PL)
