The Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association discussed the progress of its projects of socio-economic accompaniment to the island and ratified the will to promote them in the second half of this year.

Paris.- Water and sanitation, health, culture, and sports stand out among the sectors of a collaboration that is approaching 30 years, after the creation in 2005 of the organization, which held its general assembly this Saturday.

According to CubaCoop president Victor Fernández, the tightening of the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, makes the support more necessary than ever, based on the severe impact of that policy.

Fernandez underscored the priority of seeking financing from authorities, territories, companies, and foundations in France, to consolidate projects and promote new initiatives.

The first vice-president of the association, Miguel Quintero, presented at the meeting the status of the petition delivered in January to the European Parliament, demanding that the European Union (EU) take a forceful stance against the U.S. blockade and its extraterritorial scope.

Regarding sports, vice president Manuel Pascual updated the members of the association on the project aimed at supporting Cuban athletes in their preparation and adaptation for the Paris-2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. (PL)
