Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived on Sunday in this capital, where he will participate in the 3rd Summit of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Brussels.- The head of State arrived in Belgium from Portugal, where he met with local authorities and received expressions of solidarity from local associations and Cuban residents, at meetings that ratified the condemnation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

In the Belgian capital, Díaz-Canel will have a busy agenda that includes his participation in the EU-Celac Summit, which was last held in 2015 and will debate climate change, the fight against inequalities, and digital transition, among other issues.

Regarding this forum, the president said that Cuba will participate actively and very constructively in it for the sake of close relations on both sides of the Atlantic.

According to Diaz-Canel, Cuba will help strengthen ties between the EU and Celac, the united voice of Latin America and the Caribbean, based on equality and respect.

Social movements and progressive political forces are expected to the presence of the Cuban president and other leaders from the region at the People’s Summit, which will be held at the Free University of Brussels in parallel to the meeting of heads of State and Government. (PL)
