The visit to Angola will begin a tour that includes also Mozambique and South Africa.

The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, will arrive this Sunday in Luanda, Angola, on a state visit, which aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

 

Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban president's program in the African nation includes a meeting with his counterpart, João Lourenço, and talks between the ministerial delegations of both countries.

He is also expected to sign agreements and visit the headquarters of the National Assembly, where he will address Angolan deputies. The collaboration between Angola and Cuba is based on the General Cooperation Agreement, signed in February 1976, which covers the Health and Education sectors.

Cuba has been a strategic partner of Angola since its independence in 1975 and supported the country in the war against the apartheid regime in South Africa.

The Caribbean state has trained many Angolan officials and aspires to greater participation in economic cooperation with Angola.

The visit to Angola will begin a tour of several African nations, including Mozambique and South Africa. In South Africa, the Cuban leader will attend the upcoming summit of BRICS. (RHC)
