Army Gneneral Raúl Castro met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro on Friday held bilateral meetings with leaders and officials of international organizations attending the G77+China Summit.

Havana, Cuba.- The Army general met at the Havana International Conference Center (HICC) -the venue of the event- with Laos President Thongloun Sisoulith, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, and Mexican Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena.

As reported by the Cuban Presidency on X social media, Gen. Raúl Castro also held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres who took the floor in the opening session of the Summit.

In exclusive statements granted to Prensa Latina, Guterres stressed the significance of holding the G77+China Summit in Cuba, days before the UN General Assembly (UNGA) scheduled for the upcoming week.

He also pointed out that the bloc “is the voice of the global south,” and valued its contribution to “give a strong boost for an essential change that we want to approve in the United Nations, to promote reforms and mobilization of resources in support of the global south."

Army General Raúl Castro attended the opening day of the G77+China Summit, which is being attended by more than a hundred delegations from member countries of the bloc and functionaries from international organizations, who discuss relevant political and economic issues for developing nations. (PL)
