Cuba and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic and consular relations through an exchange of diplomatic notes between the permanent representations of both countries to the United Nations.

Havana, Cuba.- According to a statement issued by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the establishment of official ties between the two countries was carried out under the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, International Law and in conformity with the spirit and norms established in the Vienna Convention, April 18, 1961, on Diplomatic Relations.
