COVID-19 in Cuba

Cuban health authorities announced 1 561 new infections and 11 deaths due to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.

Havana, Cuba.- The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Durán, stressed during his daily briefing that the island reached the highest number of positive cases admitted to hospitals since the beginning of the pandemic, with 8 364; as well as the number of infections for a day.

With the latest update, the Caribbean island now accumulates 169 365 infections and 1170 deaths.

Western provinces reported 825 of the cases. The territories with the highest number of infections were Havana with 320, Santiago de Cuba 208, Matanzas 173, and Mayabeque 128.

In the meantime, Cuba's anti-COVID-19 vaccination drive is full steam ahead. 965 692 have been fully vaccinated; 4 855 270 doses administered as of June 19. (RHC)
